Yo! Is this an alternative approach to our idea(s)? What if we take the rooftop terrace, the remnants of the cyber cafe, the empty student bar, and walls without student posters and bar them off as crime scenes? Maybe outline objects that used to be there with little numbers next to them (like evidence), for instance coffee cups, pint glasses? Still with the ambient sound in the background though, to give people a feeling of what have been going on there or what we possibly can make of these spaces? Maybe create an alternative police tape saying something along the lines of "bad planning in progress, do not cross". We could also have signage next to the pieces stating when they were seen the last time, when they "died", maybe some sort of date/year/etc. We could also look into fatal accidents signs etc. Could we link to a website/blog where we have say 5 pre-made posts (according to the spaces we are focusing on) where people could comment, giving vital information and evidence about these "accidents", just like people call the police to give information during an investigation? Maybe print out "business-cards" to a fake police officer with the website address on, and put them near the scenes? Loads of ideas here, just thinking it could be easier to focus on the spaces and what's already in them rather than transforming them into something new, as we do feel that we have been "robbed" of our social spaces, or ythat the uni have "murdered" them. Also, the visual language of a crime scene is something everybody knows and connects with. Dunno, what do you guys think?
